"Realtime Search" is an amazing custom search provided by Google where results appear as they become available on the internet, in real time.
Try typing in the name of your town or anything you want to know what people are reporting on, or talking about. This is great for late breaking news as well as research on any business, attorney, restaurant, favorite actor or actress, etc. You can even get the latest realestate listings as they are added.
"Google Maps" are great for finding businesses, addresses and places of interest. You can get directions or observe actual views if "Street View" is offered. Street View was added to the Maps application installed on the Apple iPhone and Apple iPod Touch, and you can read more on "Google Street View" on the Wikipedia at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Street_view
"Google Scholar" starts by searching articles and patents yet one may search legal opinions and journals, most of which are located on educational ".edu", government or organizational sites. Advanced Scholar Search allows for highly refined search.
"Yahoo Search" the standard Yahoo search conveniently offered here at Terra2007.
"Bing Search" formerly Live Search, Windows Live Search, and MSN Search.
Microsoft Bing and Yahoo have allegedly joined forces and share or will share the same search engine power. You can read more at Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bing_(search_engine) . If you leave the search box empty and land on the Bing homepage, slowly move your mouse over the displayed image to reveal information pertinent to it.
"All the Web" Powered by Yahoo gives basically the same search results as yahoo.com without the large amount of advertising. Tabs allow switching between the web, news, and pictures in a plain easy user interface. It will be interesting to see what happens to All the Web after Yahoo starts using the Bing powered search. "Search Snopes" is a wonderful search engine for the Urban Legends Reference Pages by Barbara and David P. Mikkelson. Please stop spreading emails with information that may not be valid or only partly valid. Search Snopes for legitimacy and one may be shocked to find out the truth.
"Search the CDC" is located on terra2007 as a convenience for searching the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
